Oahu Cemetery - Support Building and Crematorium

Just wanted to send you a note to express our appreciation of the level of professionalism and care that Constructors provided to us during the construction of the new crematory building and grounds maintenance shop. These two buildings were not without their significant challenges! The way in which your team handled it all was in an exemplary manner with a very high quality of workmanship, solid communication and responsiveness on everyone’s part. We are indeed most grateful!

Client: Oahu Cemetery Association

Architect: MASON

Completion Year: 2015

Size: 2,200 square feet

Construction Cost: $1.6 Million

Constructors Hawaii Inc. (CHI) worked with Mason Architects and Heath Construction Services to build a new support building and crematorium for Oahu Cemetery. Jobsite and logistics management were critical as the project was bounded by the existing crematorium, graves, and a fish pond.

Another challenging aspect of this project was the waterline tie-in from Nu’uanu Avenue to the new crematorium. During the waterline work an archeologist was always on site should bones or other artifacts be discovered. Fortunately, none were found and the new water system was successfully installed.

The crematorium equipment was craned in before the roof was installed. Overall, this job presented many physical barriers but CHI completed its portion of the project on schedule.
